The chicks were just put in with the bigger chickens. We have since separated them again. They are in the coop with the chickens again but are in a fenced off area. We will wait for a while and try it again when they get bigger.
My son found one chick in a hole in the dirt. He thought she was dead until he picked her up. She was bloodied and had feathers picked off of her back and wings. He put her back in our "baby pool" brooder. What so we do now as far as the other chickens? Was it the rooster or the older hens...

The coop is definitely safe. My husband built it and the wire around their run is buried a foot deep. We have a door that is attached to a rope so we can open and drop it without entering the run or the coop.

Got our chicks. We think we have 2 Rhode Island Reds and from there we are not sure. One thing we have found already is it only takes them a moment or two to fall asleep when you hold them.
We are finally getting our chicks tomorrow and there are 3 weeks old. Have a brooder set up in the garage. Do I still need to keep them at 95 degrees or cooler? And once they are feathered out we can put them in the coop and not let them out in the run if its too cool?
