Hi everyone- I’m looking for reference photos for a painting I am going to be doing in the near future- I am looking for photos of chickens roosting... looking straight on either from the front or back- just so the roosting bar is completely horizontal across the photo. Hope I described what I...
I have a big German Shepherd- he was 7 when I got chickens... he’s very well trained but still needed about 3 days of supervision and corrections to be good off leash with the chickens free ranging. He’s awesome now! He doesn’t even try to kill the roosters when they go after him. :)
Well that explains a lot! I only was getting white eggs (hardly any) between her, two leghorns and a special needs Orpington. Good to know she could be laying the white eggs as well as the leghorns (although she’s been much slower to develop her comb)
anyone going to the banquet in CT next month? I’m donating a gift certificate and two of my recent gundog pieces will be displayed. In the gift certificate you’ll also receive this cute tiny sketch of this duck
Thank you! I did this on a whim during my Xmas decoration unpacking- I (unfortunately) usually don’t have extra time to create artwork ‘for fun’ but it’s because I’m booking a few months in advance now for commissioned pieces(so it’s not all bad since this is how I make my living) :)
Great thanks!! How can you tell blue gold vs gold? I bought hatching eggs off eBay- and the eggs were listed as “blue gold partridge-greenfire farms line” these are my first brahmas but definitely not my last
I’m guessing I have 2 boys and 1 girl. They are 8weeks old. My guesses are written on pic- Colors correlate to the same bird in each pic!
Blue
Green
Yellow
Wow that’s awful! That really sucks that happened to you. This is really good information. Some of my work is not “original” (I have used paintings as a reference to better my technique) but I always state it’s not my original idea and never sell those pieces/always give the original artist...
Aw so sad I missed this! Would’ve entered these two- “Henrietta the Christmas chicken” acrylic on stretched canvas and my “Sassy Rooster” acrylic on 300yr old barn wood
