9 week old Blue Copper Marans

I am relieved to hear the news - yay! I have actually been most worried about the light colored one. She has HUGE legs and lately it seems like all her tail feathers are getting pretty dark at the end and developing pointed ends. I so want blue Marans and dark eggs.

9 week old Blue Copper Marans

Thanks for the reply! Any idea why they would all have a colored feather on the body? One is half copper (crooked combed) one half green (straight combed, dark) and one half purple sheened (straight combed light)?

9 week old Blue Copper Marans

I am unsure the gender of these three Blue CM's. They are 9 weeks old. Three emerging half feathers, one copper one green and one purple - have been found (one on each bird). I have my suspicions but their combs and wattles aren't very big. I would appreciate someone else's eye and...

    Isbar thread

Thanks! I have named her Izzy and she is definitely a fiesty little thing. I do hope she's a pullet. We have no experience with this particular breed and when she also chest bumped my large Marans chicks, I started wondering...

    Isbar thread

How soon can I tell if my blue Isbar is a cockerel? Someone once said they could tell at 4-5 weeks. He/she is now 4 weeks old (I know it is early)! I see white feathers coming in on the top of the shoulder and along the back.

    The EE braggers thread!!!

The base looks like a Wyandotte's (rose comb) and then the top looks like tHe top of some Pea combs - cool. I have never seen one with both types!

    Silver Laced Wyandotte sexing

Waiting is the killer, but I think you're right - when I went to check on her the next day the large upward tail feather had come out! haha Guess that was just to torture me into questioning her status again.... ;)

    Silver Laced Wyandotte sexing

I hope so! We should know for sure in a month or so (when she would be developing saddle feathers - if a cockerel). She has been a mystery since she was little. Yes, it definitely creates the optical illusion - with my GL as well. The neck feathers are about half and half (some smaller...

    Silver Laced Wyandotte sexing

This bird is 14 weeks old as of yesterday. When I went out this morning to take pics, I see a some major signs that this may be a cockerel (pointy neck feathers, pattern development on wings, upward feather on the tail and several underneath growing straight up. irridescence on the neck/upper...
