Maximum Capacity of Formex Snap Lock Coop

I did not mention earlier on this thread that at one point, I had 1 RIR rooster and 4 EE pullets all fitting comfortably on the one roosting bar of the small Snap Lock every night. This was before they started laying but they were all basically full grown. I guess if you have a flock that gets...

    Adopting ex battery hens

This is great to hear. I might be interested in doing this next spring. Glad to see a fellow Louisianian accomplish this.

    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Unfortunately, no. I could not find him a place after looking for a long time, so I just gave hime to someone who killed him and ate him for dinner. It was about a week ago. Still feeling sad about it, but at least now my 4 EE pullets are not being roughed up multiple times daily.

    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Does the new owner want another rooster? I have a pretty large RIR rooster that's a year old and just a bit too large for my small flock of 4 EE pullets. I have someone coming by this Saturday to take him for the soup pot, but it would be nice to see him instead relocated to a new home where he...

    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Anyone want to take my 9-month-old RIR rooster and 9-month-old EE? She lays 6 eggs a week. I would like to see them got a good home where they can stay together since the EE is terribly attached to her "hubby". I only want to get rid of them because she is the alpha female, and when the...

    New Orleans Backyard Chickens

I do still have him, and I think our neighbors might have gotten to be okay with his crowing in the morning. I am going to try and keep him for now until I hear any complaints, but I have asked the people around my house if he's bothering them, and they said it wasn't too much of a problem as...

    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Sorry to keep posting on this thread about this, but I need to get rid of a 5 month old RIR roo. In my previous posts, I was trying to see to it that he wold be re-homed, but at this point, I really need to get rid of him, so I'll resort to giving him to someone who will use him for a meal. If...

    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Bump. Is there anyone who can think of how I can find a new home for my rooster? Only reason I can't keep him is because he's too loud and my neighbor's houses are close due to my smallish suburban backyard.

Research on worming chickens with albendazole

I'm looking to buy some albendazole to supplement a bottle of wazine 17 I already have acquired. Lots of people seem to be recommending Valbazen brand, but it's really expensive and I only have 5 chickens, so it will probably expire before I get to use even half the bottle. I searched amazon...

    New Orleans Backyard Chickens

I have a beautiful and very friendly RIR rooster that I need to find a new home for. He's crowing early in the morning, and since I live on a small lot in Metairie, he's disturbing the neighbors. I hope he can go to a good home and that he won't be eaten. He's very friendly and will hop up on...

Maximum Capacity of Formex Snap Lock Coop

Hello all, I have a Formex Snap Lock coop (the smaller of the two models), and I was wondering how many Easter Eggers I could fit in it. The coop is advertised to house up to 4 large chickens, but it's my understanding that Easter Eggers are somewhat medium sized/smallish birds when they're...

    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

If there's anyone around or willing to drive to Jefferson Parish (Metairie to be exact), I have a sweet and adorable juvenile Rhode Island Red rooster that I sadly have to give away to a good home. He's 2.5 months old, and we were hoping he was a female since we got him at a few days old, but...
