"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

There are A LOT of german shepherds being abandoned in the Baton Rouge area. Its very sad.

People get a working dog,or a dog for guarding their house. They don't do research they put the dog In the yard all day while they work. They don't give the dog the attention and exercise they need then wonder why he digs or barks or whatever bad habit they develop from boredom. My last one before the two I have now came from our pound. I could 't understand why she was there. In our home she did e everything we asked of her. Picked up traing like she was a pro. So these dogs can become well behaved even if they didn't for the prior owner.

I have a beautiful and very friendly RIR rooster that I need to find a new home for. He's crowing early in the morning, and since I live on a small lot in Metairie, he's disturbing the neighbors. I hope he can go to a good home and that he won't be eaten. He's very friendly and will hop up on your lap to say hi. He's not aggressive at all. 4 months old and a pretty large, heathy fellow. Please send me a message if you live in or around Jefferson Parish and you're interested in taking him.

The problem is not just the boredom of the dogs, it is the boredom and lack of care of the owner. Any animal you take in your home is like a kid. They need to be trained, paid attention to, and have proper food and shelter. There are a lot of animals bought every year because of what their breed is known for or just because they are pretty. Would you bring a kid into your home and not allow school, proper food, and leave them out in a sunny yard on a chain all day? New homes are a new start for these animals. With proper care, when they feel safe they will do anything you ask. I knew someone at a HS long ago that I would get all my dogs from. Each and everyone was on death row for aggressiveness. I had to go to classes every few months and get re-certified every year but it was worth it. Most act like that because they have been mistreated before and are simply scared. If you put a human in their shoes most of the time they will act the same. I have never had one of those dogs act like that for more than 2 months. They adjust well with kindness and proper care for their breed.

That's what I meant it's the owners. Working dogs need a job ! I'm totally with you on your post most dogs that are aggressive stems from how they were treated. I think if you have to chain a dog you don't have the means to have one. There pack animals to have dog in solitary it's cruel .Pam

This is ours before we adopted her.

Poor baby, that is pitiful and whoever starved that dog should be treated the same way. Let's see how long the prior can go without food! I know 2 wrongs don't make a right but, It is so upsetting to see an animal abused! One of the best dogs I ever owned was a Pitt Bull, but that was long ago, before they started inbreeding the poor things. My 2 spoiled puppy people we have now, are very loving and think we are their parents. They have their own entrance, so they get lots of freedom and their bed is a twin size mattress under our bedroom window, with clean sheets and pillow cases on their pillows!
