Hello,
I live in florida close to the ocean on the east coast. I let my chickens run most of my backyard and would like to plant some chicken friendly plant both for snacking and shade. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Mindy
My friend has several babies that were hatched at her school. We are trying to figure out what breed they are. Here is one of them (the only ones I could get a picture of)
Thanks
Mindy
OK... I was suspicious .. that really bites.. I will need to return him... we cant have Roosters in the zone I live in... I really like him too...
What is the difference between an ameraucana and an easter egger? I have an ameraucana now and she is hilarious...
cockerel ... well I was not positive about the gender... are you saying it is pretty obvious that the red is a boy? I hope not... I will have to give him up...

Hello,
I received these chickens from my daughter's school through. I am unsure of the breed? The lighter one looks a little like an Amaracauna but she has the red around her eyes? they are really sweet none the less..
Thanks
Mindy
Hello everyone,
I got these two from my daughter's school (they were hatched) I am unsure what breed they are? Anyone have any ideas? I thought the lighter one was Ameraucana but her feathers are so light and she is red around the eyes? maybe a mixed breed? she is quite beautiful...
I will recheck... I'll tell you what I never realized there was so little actual chicken under all those feathers... I had a hard time figuring out where exactly the neck was.... She is def molting. ..... She had new growth feathers on her neck at the time of the attack... Poor thing... I am so...
Hi.. One of my girls was attacked and carried off by a bobcat about a week ago.. Luckily I appear to have scared the bobcat enough that he dropped her and she survived. She has a med sized wound on her neck that looks to be healing... I treated her immediately with Bactine. None of the chickens...
Hi.. None of my girls are laying right now. I think they are molting..... There are Feathers everywhere for all four... They haven't laid in about 2 1/2 weeks. I will post to emergency section and see what they say. I would hate her to have survived a bobcat only to die from an infection!
Thanks for the advice... she actually is outside the coop now but staying close to it... her comb is very light colored... I will get all above and try on the wound.. it seems to be healing and thank god the others arent pecking at her.
Hello,
I am new to the backyard chicken world. I have 4 chickens and live on 5 acres mostly wooded in Florida no fence. I let my girls roam free and for 7 months all was well in the world. About a week ago I heard the chickens making quite a ruckus and I ran out front to find a very large...
