Something attacked my Swedish Black Drake

The ducks live with my chickens in a room inside our barn and my son-in-law is going to do some remodeling in there tomorrow to make sure nothing else can get in there. I feel reassured that Bob Hoke calls the wounds "Superficial ". I havent had my ducks very long but I sure do love them.

Something attacked my Swedish Black Drake

My poor duck dude got attacked by something, maybe a raccoon, and he has significant wounds on his bill and right above it. I'm totally clueless on what all to do for him. He's indoors right now after spending most of the day in my bathtub. I've cleaned his wound and sprayed it several times...

So, what do you guys think?

I spoke to a vet and had 2 other experienced chicken people come over and visit my flock, and nobody seems to think we have Mareks because of the presentation of signs/symptoms. The fact that the rooster has very pale legs and the hen is very droopy raised a red flag, plus someone in the flock...

    potentially mareks disease???

Quite spontaneous an unexpected. One Rooster had been ill on and off so I dont really count him in the surprise, but I never expected to go outside and find my RIR Rooster deceased, and then one of my 9 month old Wyandottes. They were fine at bedtime, then deceased in the morning.

    potentially mareks disease???

Im in the same situation, and Im in Ohio. The closest place for me to get a necropsy is a lab 2 hours away and it costs $180.00. I have had lots of people suggest Mareks but then today I was told that it could be Coccidiosis. The person who suggested that was 100% confident and has been...

So, what do you guys think?

Its just so weird that they both seem perfectly normal during the day. Cookie even walked on her foot a bit today while they were free ranging. But when I got out their worms to lure them back to the henhouse she hopped and flew. Our chicken breeder friend (is thst what they're called? Chicken...

So, what do you guys think?

Found out that the Wyandottes were all vaccinated against Mareks when they were hatched.

So, what do you guys think?

Ok, will absolutely check both of them in the morning to see how their feet are. Pancake isn't limping or anything but Ive never seen him cuddle up to any of the other girls, either.

So, what do you guys think?

Yes, and I included a picture so others can take a gander. I cant see or feel anything but it was suggested that she mught have the beginnings of bumblefoot. Tomorrow is Foot Bath Day so Ill check again.

So, what do you guys think?

Ill check her eyes in the morning, but she doesnt have any of the other symptoms. Her leg isnt paralyzed , after she gets a foot bath in warm water with epsom salts she will put it down and walk a little, but then she goes back to hopping. She hasnt lost weight and she acts normal otherwise.

So, what do you guys think?

Sorry that this is long, but I think I need guidance or advice again. I posted in another section about this and was told things I probably needed to hear, but got some nastygram messages and responses that I wasnt really comfortable with, so Im trying this forum because everyone seems...

Feeling incompetent because my chickens dont live long

Ive only had chickens for about 18 months now and Im still learning, but I think Ive found the answers Im seeking. I have had some illnesses in my flock, I have had scaly leg mites, I have had chicken lice. I have nursed Battery Hens back to great health and I have had chickens with frostbite...

Feeling incompetent because my chickens dont live long

Yes, @casportpony was an amazing help when my poor chicken, Marsala, was attacked and had her crop hanging out. I feel like I ask too many questions but everyone has been wonderful about answering them!
