potentially mareks disease???

Going without water if it froze could definitely have been a problem that could cause illness and death. I use electric dog bowl waterers in my coop that only come on when it drops close to freezing. Outside I use gallon black rubber bowls that I empty every every evening when they go inside to roost, and refill each morning with fresh water. If they happen to freeze, you can break the ice out of them.
Well I have one heated water nipple one inthe coop and then one that’s regular but not heated.

Where your chickens fine one minute and the next the next struggling? Or was it over night?
Quite spontaneous an unexpected. One Rooster had been ill on and off so I dont really count him in the surprise, but I never expected to go outside and find my RIR Rooster deceased, and then one of my 9 month old Wyandottes. They were fine at bedtime, then deceased in the morning.

So weird and sad. Sorry for you chicken loss:(

So we took some stool samples to the vet yesterday. The vet said they didn’t see worms or coccidiousis. Pepper didn’t make it and we’ve lost two other chickens. Now we have one left. Wanted to get y’alls opinion of if you think the wing being completely down like that and leg/valence being off if you think it could be lice and an ear infection and possible not mareks? The vet did say that they’ve seen a couple mareks outbreaks this season from the place we got out chickens. The other two chickens died while we were on vacation but the sitter said they were fine one minute and dead the next or on their way out and very lethargic. We were also using a pre-used coop that could’ve had mareks in it??? We just moved into a house and have been here for 7 months now. Anyways just wondering.

With the details you gave in that last post I would think you would be extremely lucky if it was not Mareks. Kinda all stacked against you with Mareks being in the place you got your stock and also using a coop without knowledge of background. Likely it was Mareks IMO.
