This isn't true. AAFCO has a strict definition of what by-product consists of and companies cannot label something else as by-product if it doesn't meet the definition. As I recall it is specifically the cleaned carcasses and organs after butchering and processing, but I can post the definition...
I wasn't responding to you specifically, @Ruralhideaway, nor did I suggest that dogs be fed straight corn or say that Loyall has corn as the main ingredient. :) Merely putting out some facts considering the rampant "Fluffy is a wolfie" feeding craze going on at the moment.
Personally, I'd keep my favorite one or the nicest one. Hopefully those are one and the same! Though without competition the remaining roo might settle back down a bit as well. Being young and not having enough hens to go around is probably ratcheting up the testosterone and aggression levels...
They may not have been labeled, but they were straight run. They only sell silkies straight run, and I don't think I've seen sexed RIRs there either (though that may just be my store).
Don't let it be stressful anymore! Limit yourself to one roo and get some more ladies, preferably chicks...
Yep! Corn is a good source of energy for dogs that is well-digested and well-utilized by them when properly prepared. Most performance feeds know how to get the most out of it and just about every performance dog out there (certainly all the successful ones!) eat food with corn in it because...
I'm sorry for your bad experiences, but none of this sounds like Tractor Supply's fault. You bought straight-run birds (meaning both genders mixed together) and got exactly that, a mixed bunch. If you had gotten rid of all but one rooster while they were adolescents you wouldn't have had this...
How much are you feeding him? Most times this issue is caused by too much food (volume-wise, not calorie or nutrient wise).
If you want to stick to that H-E-B brand, try switching to the sporting mix. That's a 24/20 instead of a 22/12, which is what the adult you are currently using is...
For the record, I have a hen that mounts the other hens. She grabs them by the back of the neck and climbs right on and flaps around. She hasn't managed to crow yet but she makes some pretty bizarre noises that could be attempts.
Soooo it's not impossible to have a manly hen that crows and...
I have nothing useful to add, but when I saw the title of the thread in the sidebar I almost snorted soda out of my nose. Sex ducks... :lau That "-ing" is important! :gig
They are both really cute though. I especially like that khaki! :love
That's unfortunate. Youtube/Google is really going off the rails lately. Google wants to cleanse the whole thing to make it all kid-friendly and advertiser-friendly. Now they are going too far, and I suppose soon another platform will rise up to replace Youtube and begin the cycle again...
Hence my quotes. I wrote "amberlink pullet." The ones that I got that the hatchery was calling amberlinks were all white chicks, and the cockerel only began developing a little bit of brown like the OP's bird as it got older. The pullets remained white. They said they were feather sexed. I...
