I have to agree, they are quite addictive. All my chickens have come from tractor supply. I have 2 three year old tetra tints-laying really well, 4 three year old EEs, again still going strong in the egg department. 1 rooster that I have no idea what he is as he was suppose to be a tetra tint...
Is it possible for 2 week old chicks to crow? I KNOW I heard crowing from inside my house. I can not be that crazy. lol. Not the chicks pictured above, but in another brooder I have a bunch of partially feathered sex link pullets and four Dixie rainbow straight run chicks. I swear I head really...
Tractor Supply, I have so far this year gotten, Tetra tints, White Rocks, Red Sex links, Dixie Rainbows and assorted bantams. The ones I am featuring today are the bantams. I am very curious as to what I picked.
I did not fair so lucky. It took me all month and 2 trips to the vet, just to discover my rooster is sterile.
Well at least it wasn't me killing the eggs this time. Meanwhile, I think he will stay even though he can't produce unless he fights with the new rooster. He does such a good job...
I ended up putting in 2 green eggs and 1 blue egg (EEs), two medium brown eggs and one light brown egg. I am really hoping for something his time! I cross my fingers for all of you!
I had such terrible luck last year hatching eggs I almost wasn't going to even attempt this year. Yesterday I decided to give it one more shot. Incubator is all set up, temp is holding fast and I am going to be placing some eggs in when I get home. Not a lot, Just about a 1/2 dozen.
My rooster...
Chicks 2,3,5,10 and 12 Look like Golden Comets. I have a few from tractor supply.
Chicks 1,4,9 all look like black stars/black sex links
Chicks 6,7, and 11 kinda look like the GLWs I have a couple that I got a Tractor supply as chicks, they had a bit more red in them though.
I don't know a lot...
Awesome pictures, these came from someone who raises 4H birds, hatched at her house as was the adults she has. Her husband was home at pick up not her, and he doesn't know as much about birds(he says he tries to stay away from him). He said he thought is wife said they were 5-6 weeks old and...
They are almost 6 weeks old. First 4 are Barred Rocks, last 2 are Black Astrops(SP?) They are suppose to be all pullets. Yes? No?

I just feel bad moving it to a brooder all by itself. The rest of its eggs(3 others) that were due to hatch with it, didn't hatch. 1 was shrink wrapped fully developed, 1 died some where around a week, and the other drowned I believe in its shell also completely developed but started pipping 3...
I put it back in thethe incubator right away. I had a mini space heater near it as my humidity is up in the bator and it is not drying out very fast.. I am concerned for him as I go back into lockdown tonight for eggs due to hatch on the 31st. I am not sure what to do with him. Any suggestions...
I hatched this little chick yesterday:
This is the father:(Silkie x RIR)
Judgeing by the egg size and color(large med brown egg) I have eliminated the easter eggers, polish, Appen spitz, Buff orpingtons, and Tetra Tints.
I have eliminated the buff brahma due to the fact the father...
