Marking chickens? Leg bands or wing clips?

I use plastic band from R. Burkey. They just slip around the leg and are numbered and color coded. They definitely help keep track of pedigree. I also use toe punch marking on some to keep track of lineage.

I have not seen a predator do this before

Quote: Substitute automobile Starter fluid. It is ether. It works fine . Put the trap and coon down in a large garbage can. Saturate a rag with starter fluid and drop it in the garbage can. Put the lid back on and seal for 10 minutes or so. It works well and is humane. I will kill a varmint...

Giant tumor in MOUTH - Related to CRD?

If it's canker you can treat it with copper sulfate. 1/4tsp crystals per gallon. CS is a good anti-fungal but I don't know what the emergency/ drench dose is if it is different from normal. Maybe someone else can chime in. Pics would help.

Do guinea hens hatch their own eggs?

Remember they are basically sub-Saharan in origin so they are from a much drier climate than most of the US. The morning dew is tough on the keets. They definitey don't do well. A wet keet is a dead keet. Mark

    Silly or stupid......both!

My wife's are stupid. They will walk to the road and stand there waiting for a car to come along so they can jump out in front of it. We had to pen what was left of the flock.

Can I raise them to be tame?

I plan to get a few Guinea eggs come spring, never had a flock of birds before, can I 'train' them? Joke? Right?

    Who has lost they're Guineas?

I had 4 disappear one time a few years ago. I was up at a neighbors house visiting some time later and the four came up at feeding time. They were so proud of their guineas that I didn't have the heart to tell them they were mine. "Yep, that is strange them just wondering up like that."

Raising a turkey with laying hens?

Blackhead can be prevented by using 1/4 copper sulfate per 1 gallon water. It can be treated with Flagyl, metronizadole, if you catch it early enough. With these two things in mind I have raised them together for several years with no problems with blackhead. So far I have not had to treat with...

Spurs, should I cut them off??

Use a Dremel tool with a cut-off blade. It cauterizes the end of the spur and it will not grow back. There is no bleeding this way. Be sure to wear eye protection if you do. The blade can break and at 25,000 rpm and do serious injury.

    eprinex versus ivermectin

Lice are best treated with Permethrin or Seven dust.

    eprinex versus ivermectin

Eprinex still works on most internal fowl parasites along with mites that suck blood. It has lost much of its zing for the beef industry. The "white wormers" like Valbazen and Safe-Guard, albenzadole and fenbenzadole, are more effective and less toxic to the host. They do require oral dosing...
