It hatched against all odds!Pics added

Great story!! I am currently fretting over 2 eggs that my broody hen has left. They were due today, and they are still alive, but she has left them to deal with the new chicks.....I've been checking on them every hour, and so far, nothing. I have a light on to keep them warm, but no...

Hen has separated the nest - day 21

Of the 3 that were left in the open, one has a pip, and is obviously ready. We floated them all last night, and all 6 had movement, and floated.

Hen has separated the nest - day 21

We have 6 eggs that are ready to hatch and this morning we went to check on the hen, and she has pulled 3 of the eggs to the other side of the box, and left the others by themselves. Is this normal, and why????

Anyway to convince a rooster it doesn't need to crow every 30 seconds?

Here is where my "expertise" ends!!!! My roo doesn't hang around the ladies all the time either, he likes to sit on the horse corals and crow!! I just know that I am not afraid of this one, the old one we had, I couldn't stand. Just spend some time out there, and as long as you are...

Hen is pulling out the Roosters tail feathers

I got them all at the same time, and they have been laying for a month or so.....I originally had 10, and as of last weekend, I now have only 5 left. Coyotes attacked. Maybe they got the one responsible!!! We will see if he starts getting some new ones!! Thanks!

Anyway to convince a rooster it doesn't need to crow every 30 seconds?

My roo crows constantly, whether he is cooped up or not!! All day, and all night!! I have just learned to love it, but I would not have two of them!! This is our 2nd roo, and personally, I would look for traits other than the crowing....like how aggresive is he? The first one, we got rid of...

Hen is pulling out the Roosters tail feathers

Is this normal behavior? Will they eventualy stop or is he destined to be tail-less?? He could be beautiful, but not like this!!! The rooster is Americauna, the hens are Americauna, Buffs, and Barred rocks.

    First time hatching new chicks

Hi, I am new to this forum, and have owned chickens for a couple of years now. We had 10 hens and one rooster until this past weekend. We had a coyote attack and lost 5 of them in one day. They have been free range with a coop that they go into at night. We have had one broody hen for the...
