Great story!! I am currently fretting over 2 eggs that my broody hen has left. They were due today, and they are still alive, but she has left them to deal with the new chicks.....I've been checking on them every hour, and so far, nothing. I have a light on to keep them warm, but no...

Of the 3 that were left in the open, one has a pip, and is obviously ready. We floated them all last night, and all 6 had movement, and floated.

We have 6 eggs that are ready to hatch and this morning we went to check on the hen, and she has pulled 3 of the eggs to the other side of the box, and left the others by themselves. Is this normal, and why????

I am anxious for this answer as well. I am currently hatching Buff orphington babies and a Barred rock baby with my Americana Roo. Three hatched yesterday, and I am wondering the same thing.

I got them all at the same time, and they have been laying for a month or so.....I originally had 10, and as of last weekend, I now have only 5 left. Coyotes attacked. Maybe they got the one responsible!!! We will see if he starts getting some new ones!! Thanks!

My roo crows constantly, whether he is cooped up or not!! All day, and all night!! I have just learned to love it, but I would not have two of them!! This is our 2nd roo, and personally, I would look for traits other than the crowing....like how aggresive is he? The first one, we got rid of...

Is this normal behavior? Will they eventualy stop or is he destined to be tail-less?? He could be beautiful, but not like this!!! The rooster is Americauna, the hens are Americauna, Buffs, and Barred rocks.

I have a small frizzle that lays the tiniest little eggs, then one day I got one from her that was larger than any jumbo egg I had ever seen! It does happen.

Thank you all..... I used a pencil, but the other hens have made a new nest about 8 inches away from her, so no more new eggs are makin it under!! We should have some babies around the 9th or 10th!!
