    Dead chickens!!

    here in my coop we have both coons and skunks both have that method of killing, skunks are more likely to go for eggs, but if the chicken is in the way, the hen is first. It's easy to tell if it's a skunk they dig around the edges, but the racoon finds any loose spot in the coop.

    curious to know... was the inner egg normal? I once got an egg that was totally soft shelled and inside was normal, followed the hen and all seemed good, hen was three at the time and in good health. still not sure of the abnormality.

    hens seem to respond to presence... if you can catch them before they are able to get the egg, it detours them and they move to something else. if they have an open egg remove it quickly they will look for it but will move on to other options and the habit will fade. unfortunately time with the...

    introducing new hens

    my flock of 42 have been together a long time, we have a new flock of 24 about to be free. They have been raised inside the coop of flock 1 in their own fenced coop (for socialization), will they be accepted by other hens?
