curious to know... was the inner egg normal? I once got an egg that was totally soft shelled and inside was normal, followed the hen and all seemed good, hen was three at the time and in good health. still not sure of the abnormality.we went to our coop today to check for eggs and found this. Have you ever seen an egg like this? If so, what does it mean??View attachment 1537115
This is a hen whose a year and a half. Appreciate any additional thoughts, thank you!The shell division of the egg making factory seems a little wonky... is this a pullet who just started laying? If so, it isn't too unusual. If the hen has been laying for awhile, I would watch her more closely. There are a bunch of factors that may contribute to the problem.
I’m newer to chickens so wondering if you could expand more on older chickens; our girl is about a year and a half- is that old in chicken years? Thanks for commenting.Here- https://the-chicken-chick.com/how-hen-makes-egg-egg-oddities/ Scroll down a ways and you will see a photo of your egg's twin. Whether you need to be concerned or not depends on the age of the hen that laid it. New layers pop out some strange mutant eggs while getting the science down. Older layers may lay an egg like that if they are stressed or are sick with an infection.
