It's finished! The house is 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 the run is 6x7 I was rreally worried about screwing into the plastic, but it worked out just fine. I removed the plexiglass from some of the windows & put hardware cloth between the frame.
Can anyone help identify the sex of this corturnix quail. I just rescued 4 quail from someone who could no longer care for them. I have identified 2 of them, and I'm just not sure with this one. I think it's a male but it does have some spots. Also how can you tell the sex on tuxedo quail...
Last spring my husband built me a lovely chicken coop. It is going to become the Silkie coop and this playhouse will become the new home to the other hens. Any ideas or tips on how to convert it. The Silkies are still in the 'bator so I've got some time :)

I put sand down in the run and no I don't think I like it. It seems to stay damp. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could add to it? I really do not want to remove all of it. I was thinking pea gravel or dirt. I do like that it isn't to difficult to clean, I just use a kitty litter...
We just got out chickens about 2 months ago, so far so good. I believe when you are unincorporated you have to follow the county ordinances not the city/town ordinances. So if Cook County says it's ok, I'd go for it
