We are preparing the spot for the coop and run. It is close to the house at the edge of the woods. We wanted it to be sheltered from the sun a bit. Hubby raked all the leaves and brush and then burnt it all off. Will the burnt leaves and such hurt them?
We totally want to keep them but I dont want them to be miserable because they arent meant to live past a few months old! KWIM? I have read that cornish get so heavy that they cant walk well.
I would love if someone could id them though!
Ok, I am a new chicken mommy and have fell in love with our 2 new chicks. Dd hatched them in class and we brought 2 of the 9 or so home.
I didnt know what breed they were and figured we would figure it out as they got older. Now I am thinking that they are cornish rocks.
Are they really only...
The cage is about 3 feet by 4 feet and about 2 feet tall. I have no idea what they are, maybe you can help me I will add some pictures.
They dont have a tractor yet. I am hoping dh will fix something up this weekend.
I cant get my camera to upload right now, here are some older pics...
My 5ish week chicks are in the garage in a "cage" covered on 3 sides. I know the temp outside is about 68 and they dont have a lamp on but they seem tobe breathing heavy?? Is this normal?
Also thier bodies are always very warm. Is this the way it is supposed to be? I would love to be able to...
Well, dh is NOT an animal lover, unfortunately that includes chickens. But he has been nice and made a big "cage" for me to put them in the garage and is getting ready to start on their coop.
Because he lives and breathes technology:rolleyes: he has also rigged up a webcam on our chicken cage...

I have 3ish week old chicks that dd's class hatched in class. I am totally new to the chicken thing and was wondering a few things.
I know I have read that you can lower the temp in the brooder by 5 degrees each week. Right now they are in the dining room and the house stays at a steady 75...
