    How old before they mate?

Soooo very helpful ! The girls come and go after they lay the eggs so it's hard to tell if they would brood or not so much. So I guess I will snag the eggs and date them before putting in the incubator. Wish me luck .

    How old before they mate?

So should I just leave all the eggs, typically 4 or5 a day in the nesting boxes? If they hatch, will the others attack the chicks? How would I know who the mama is? Or should I take them and put dates on them and put in my incubator?

    How old before they mate?

We have sweet Buff Orpingtons and Light Braham's. One of the buffs is a rooster and all the the rest are hens. So, they hatched last July so a year old now. And will he try to mate with the light Braham's? Thanks all.

Enough ventilation for my new coop?

What fun would life be if we couldn't laugh at each other once in awhile! So I'm just going to drill #5 - 2" holes across the opposite side from the current ventilation area and screen them. I think that should do it just fine. Thanks for the reply and the chuckle.

Enough ventilation for my new coop?

the measurements are 3" x 6' not 33". LOL I can see where that would be confusing. The ventilation runs across the length of the very top on one side. I was thinking I could just crack the window across from that ventalation a couple inches. That window is 2' wide x 1' deep.

    Mini Incubator 7 egg capacity

Sorry I didn't get notified of tour post. To answer tour question though most likely too late.....it was a piece of junk. I bought a nice one for $89 that turns the eggs every 2 hours, monitors the heat and humidity. Guess I got what I paid for in both cases.

Enough ventilation for my new coop?

I leave the Windows and doors open during the day and the 2'x 1' open at night as its screened . so do you think I should rige it so it stays open a few inches at night or should I still drill #6 - 2" holes at the top of the coop on all 4 sides and screen them? Thanks for replying so quickly.

Enough ventilation for my new coop?

I just finished my coop that is 6X6 and 4' high inside. It has a double decker nesting area with easy access from the outside with doors that lift. I also have "french doors" on one side for easy cleaning, a 2'x1' window that is screened and of course the coop exit with planck. So here is the...

Herding the crew into the coop!

I feel like I am scaring the poop ( literally ) out of the poor kids when trying to get them back into the coop in the late evening. I have #11 - 5 week old branhms and between myself and my hubby rounding them up in a LARGE run, we feel so bad as they are so scared by the time we catch them all...

Greetings fellow chick lovers. I just moved my 5 week old - 11 Brahma's outside in their coop that turned out to be more like the taj mahal!
