Yes the longer tail feathers and bigger legs is what's making me suspicious too. It's really hard to tell the shape of its feathers. They're not very nice feathers. Is that common for lavender Ameracaunas? My Australorp Roo has gorgeous shiny feathers so I know they're nutrition is not the...
I have an olive egger pullet that's slowly growing some tail feathers but yesterday I realized a couple were bleeding. After some research I decided to follow most of the advice I found about it and pluck the 2 bleeding feathers. That went OK and then I put her back and just a little but later...
**UPDATE**
She seems quite better this morning. She's eating, drinking, walking around. Still a little slow but much better. And the water in her crop is gone. I'm sitting in the run waiting for her to poop to see if it's runny. If it is runny should I start s....oh! There it is she just pooped...
I did notice her poop being quite runny. But I also noticed her drinking a ton of water so I thought it was just from that. I thought she was maybe drinking a lot of water bc they are new, I just got them a week ago and the first day they drank very little at first bc they couldn't figure out...
Yeah that's what I was just looking up. So water belly is lower? Like in the under carriage? Would you be able to see the fluid sloshing around if the water was in her crop? It looks like it's right under the skin.
I have a young speckled sussex. About 6-8 weeks old. She's been lethargic today. And I just noticed her breast area is full of water. I can see it through her skin. Is that what water belly is? She's so weak. Here's a link to a video. Please let me know if the video link doesn't work...
I got a Speckled Sussex from a hatchery as a day old chick. From the first day she was soooo sweet. Always the first to run up and check me out, jump on my lap, wanted to be petted. Sadly she got killed when she was just 7 weeks old 😢 😪. I'm getting another one this Friday. Very excited. My...
What did you end up doing? I'm doing the same right now. I want to use the same stuff CarolinaCoops uses but can't find it locally. Last time we used FRP and it did work well as far as not letting any moisture get to the floor or walls but it didn't look as nice as HDPE would have. We are...
So week 6....what do you think? Not a ton of growth in comb or wattle but noticeably redder. The feathers don't look roo-like to me. I have another australorp and it's wattle is very pale and small but feathering is pretty much identical. My rooster from my previous flock had a huge comb by now.
