Hello. I hatched out chicks under two hens last year. Each had to be separated from other hens and one another. Experienced hens are far less trouble as new broodys will sometimes abandon, kill chicks or steal from one another. I leave them separated until the chicks are about 6 weeks...
Thank you for the response. No i don't have a incubator. I do have a very local breeder that i can get eggs from. I would just hate to have them abandoned after they begin to really develop. I'm still curious to see if anyone has had this type of thing turn out successfully.
Hello. I have a question for those of you who might know.
Some background...I have a bielefelder hen that started broody about two weeks ago. I have been removing the eggs from under her every day and she is still hanging in there. She will get up for a short time, every day, in the mornings...
Hello everyone. I have a rooster that I need help with. We were told he was a bielefelder but we only paid $10 for him and he is much redder than you see in a bielefelder.

Since then we moved onto our 50 acres and began living off grid. We accumulated 33 more birds along the way so started work on a multi function coop/shed that alos serves as a mount for our solar and to collect rain water...
Thank you both for the input. If i decided to leave it be would there be very serious repercussions when she reaches maturity? I will have to take a picture later but it isn't preventing her from standing on the pad of her foot.
I have a chick that i collected today who has a foot that twists to the side. Her foot is normal in every way excepting that her toes are curled out to the side of her foot instead of splayed in front of her. I have read here that a splint can be made for newly hatched chicks but this chick...
