    I agree! Especially when you live next to a state park and have to deal with foxes, hawks, weasels, raccoons, coyotes, and we've even seen mountain lions! Not to mention the neighbor's dog :/

    My Delawares did the opposite- they started laying a full month before my Wyandottes that were the same age. It must not be a breed thing.

    The only real sign this early is the comb being bigger, but that isn't a very reliable sign. I thought for sure I had a roo in this picture until she started laying.
