Alright...so, we've made a raised deck with a plastic "pond" set in it for our 5 ducks. This weekend I'm going to install a hose to drain the water out and planned to have it help feed the veggie garden. Another option (that seems like a better idea) is to have it all go to our compost box...
Actually, I cut the floor out of the house so that the bedding material could easily be dumped out. (It's like a trap door with hinges) I'll certainly look into removing the entire floor. Great idea!
Thanks for answering the bedding question too. We put some straw in ours, but i would like to...
I believe, generally, male ducks have a stripe of color across their eyes on their head. You can see the stripes on our two ducklings on the photo below. Although the farmer told us they were Khaki's they ended up being Mallards. (we still love them)
Hey guys,
It's been a while since I've updated on here. Our two ducks, Richard (the Runner) and Party (the Mallard) refuse to roost in the house I built them. I don't think they like the stairs, or they would just rather sleep under the house. Do you have any suggestions? I'm about to sell...
Thanks everyone! We live in the city, in a duplex, and our yard is tiny. Designing something functional and attractive (and cost effective) was difficult. But it looks like I'm going back to the drawing board again anyway.... Our next project is a Hoop Coop. I'll post pics once we have it built.

Thanks so much! Here's the final version (minus the roof garden or sheet metal roofing material I'll most likely add) The roof garden is basically a planter box (I think I'll use rough cut pine) that I plan to install using bolts (and lifting off the roof a couple of inches) to the current roof...
Looks great! I'm almost finished my duck coop too! I just need to paint a bit more orange, and some fun finishing touches. I want to build a small roof garden to help with the Texas heat as well as provide some ducks "snacks" and herbs for us. I've got a little planning to do on that still. The...
Thank you for your comments! I'll build the coop according to your advice and I'll post pictures when it's completed. The other thing I've decided to do is to build a small rooftop herb garden on the coop. That will provide cooler temps inside as well as feed our family, the ducks, or both. One...
Hey guys! I love all the inspiration on this website. My wife wanted some ducks and like a good husband I said "yes dear" and here we are. My biggest contribution in this is constructing what we're calling a "duck run" (pictures attached) as well as a "coop." (hasn't been built yet) Our run is...
