    I went back out to look specifically for any more, and I couldn’t find any. No one is exhibiting any symptoms at all. So maybe just shedding cecal cells?

    I found this in my grow out pen today. Is this cocci poop? Or just coral urates? No one is visibly hunched or withdrawn. Grow outs are 6-10 weeks old.

    These are the vertical nipples. They hang straight down. The poultry pecks at the silver trigger to let the water flow. These are the horizontal nipples. The chickens are great at pushing the silver trigger sideways to get the water out, but the turkeys just could not manage it.

    I give up. These turkeys just are not catching on to the nipples. I’ve been doing a bunch of research, and I found at least one site that said that their beak/eye coordination deteriorates with age. So maybe they just can’t manage the horizontal nipples.

    Welp. I hand watered them half a dozen times today. Pecan did pretty well, and I think will pick it up. Tater did only ok. Stuffing flatly refused to open his beak at all. I’ll try again tomorrow.

    I got them moved out to a pen in a shady corner of the chicken meadow. I pulled the open water dish out and just let the closed container in there. I’ve been holding their beaks in the nipples periodically throughout the day. I really, REALLY want this to work. Open waterers are such a pain!

    Sooooooo...are turkeys smart enough to figure out horizontal chicken nipples for water? My chicks figured it out quickly, but the turkeys are completely ignoring them. I really, REALLY want them using a closed waterer.
