So, most of my girls are ‘ on the brink’ laying wise and I let them free-range. I had a hunch so I kept them in their coop until noon today. Wouldn’t you know it, I got an extra egg ☺️. What are the odds that the timing was THAT perfect? I think tomorrow they may stay in even later, LOL!
Minnie Bee on the right. She’s really pretty, right? This is my first flock, they came all together. Guess I’ll look into rehoming her. Bummer too, she’s a pretty good little layer.
we brought home some new pullets earlier this week and now our little game hen has gone broody. 1) Is that the reason, and 2) how do we get her to stop? TIA!

The supplier offered to let me bring them back and indeed they were boys. Crisis averted, he let me swap them for the girls I wanted. My faith in humanity is restored
Meet the new girls, hopefully . I was told they’re copper marans pullets, roughly 3 months old. What says the collective wisdom on this site?
Also a picture of my first copper marans Bea.
Getting so anxious!! 3 of 7 are laying. My Marans and Old English Game hens are a year old and laying, my True Green Whiting started at 4-1/2 months, when will the rest of my girls start? I’ve got a Light Brahma, 3 Wyandotte’s all 5 months old. Agh, I can’t stand the anticipation!!!!!
