Every Day on my way into town I see a white cochin rooster on the side of the busy highway, I've seen him for months. I'm pretty sure he belongs to a trailer as I've seen him in their fenced in yard, either that or he jumps the fence to scratch around. I've seen no other chickens in the yard, I...
Tomorrow I'm trying my first hatch, I live in Northwest FL I was going to wait till spring but with keeping chicks in a barn I was worried about excessive heat. I'm only doing a few as the incubator advised.
If you have a neighbor who has chickens they might show up near their chicken pen. I never saw my neighbor's chickens till I got my own now they like to come "visit".
My 7 week old RIR have the run of a large yard now, I started to notice that one of the chickens stands with two legs, but one of the legs seems turned a funny way at the joint, however when he runs a long distance he does so on one leg, which I didn't know was possible. He's healthy in every...
Mine are 6-7 weeks and won't go more then 25 feet from their pen, unless they are following me, if I want them back in before nightfall I just put treats in the pen and they all file back in.
his legs are grayish/black, no idea about his comb his neck is sooo long I assumed he was a roo they are 6/7 weeks, the farm where I bought them claimed they we're BSL and Rhode Island Reds.
These are who I suspect are Roo's out of my chicks, also when I posted once befpre someone said they didn't think these we're Rhode Island Reds which is what the seller claimed they were. Any opinions welcome.
I read on another post that someone put up a line of twine with across the part of her yard where she didn't want her chickens to go, she put the twine about chicken breast high and every foot or so attached those little bells that they see as wedding favors and when a chicken would hit the...
I found a 2' rat snake on top of my pen that has my "teenagers", just a word about "relocating", please make sure it's somewhere where no one lives. I live in the country and it seems people like to drop of things on the edge of my woods...mainly cats. They eventually fine their way to me...
I'm trying to decided which Roo to keep. All my hens are RIR, I have 1 RIR Roo and 1 black sex link Roo. What would potential chicks look like I I kept the BSL?
