The silver laced like the rafters. There is a rafter in the coop. The australorps won't go up there. There are other roosting places in the coop. The rafters we want them down from are the rest of the barn, outside the coop. LOL I'm just guessing at the size of the coop.
Same building, but not in the coop. 12 black australorps and 12 silver laced wyandottes. We have plenty of roost space, and even a rafter in the coop that the australorps don't use. Silver laced are 6 months and australorps are a year.
I have spring chickens that have made it a habit to roost in the rafters at night instead of going into the coop with the fall hens. How do I get them to go into the coop at night instead?

Ok. I wasn't clear. We keep them in separate pens. My husband lets each out (free range) separately. Do we need to keep them separate when they are outside?
She is still favoring her one leg, but she is up and hopping around better. I'm not sure if time or the molasses/cider vinegar is doing the trick. I'm still going to keep an eye on her. She has a very good appetite and seems quite social with the other chicks.
I do use the medicated grower...
I buy my feed and chicks at Theisens. I buy layer feed for my adult chickens and starter feed for the chicks. They are Nutrena products.
Her leg is just there. When I pick her up and put my hand by her feet, one foot will grab my finger, the other wont.
Her appetite is good and she...
We tried something new today. 2 cups apple cider vinegar heating in microwave for 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup molasses and stir until mixed. We made this last night. This morning my daughter put 1/4 cup into 1 gln water. I went to put all the chicks in tonight and she was standing. Not all that...
I have an 8 week chick that just lays there. Seems one leg works well but the other doesn't. She was walking up until about a week ago. Any suggestions?
