Not Laying -brahmas and bantam cochins

Hi everyone. I hatched 1 Easter Egger and 4 brahma hens around April 16, and 3 bantam cochins a few weeks later but no one is laying yet. They're all between 27-30 weeks old now and not a single egg. I'm feeding them layer feed and occasional veggie/fruit scraps. They have fresh water daily...

    bantam cochin quitters

I didn't realize you could get blood rings in unfertilized eggs. I thought the blood rings were disintegrating blood vessels that settle near the bottom of the egg. That wouldn't happen if they weren't fertile would it?

    humidity at hatch time

Hi All. Today is day 21 and I have my first pip. My question is about humidity. I have two cheap little hygrometers in my incubator and one reads 45% and one reads 60%. I don't kno wwhich one to trust...I have followed the incubator's instruction manual which is to fill trough 1 and 2 with...

    bantam cochin quitters

I'm just wondering if there is anything different about bantam cochin eggs (Its my first time hatching this breed)? I put 7 bantam cochins 6 wyandotte, 6 brahma, and 6 easter eggers in the incubator. Besides a couple of infertile EE's everything seems to be fine except for the batam eggs. 5...

    Weasels!!!

I feel the same way. We've had to deal with predators before but this weasel just seems to be killing for fun and I want him dead. I have totally given up on the live trap. I'm headed out to look for heavy duty rat traps now.

    Weasels!!!

Help!! I have a weasel taking out all my chickens. I woke up the other day to 9 dead chickens in the coop. The chickens looked barely touched but were dead all over the floor. I assumed a weasel and that he got in through a vent hole that wasn't covered. I covered the vent hole securely...

What is your favorite. breed of Chickens and Why

My favourites so far have been the brahmas. They loved to be outside in the winter, produced eggs year round, would follow the kids around the yard and even walk them to the school bus. They were so friendly and outgoing. We had to give away our flock when we moved. Right now I just have...

Bantam cochin and Blue Brahma egg colours?

I'm wondering if anyone can post pictures of their bantam cochin and/or brahma egg colours? The info I find online just says 'brown' but I'm wondering if there are nice variations on shade or anything interesting about their eggs?

    Loving the colourful eggs

What is a BC? Also, some of those eggs almost look like a silver colour - who lays those? (Or is it just the camera light playing off an olive egg?) And who lays those ones on top that almost look like a burgundy with white overlay? I'm wanting to keep introducing new egg colours into my flock!

Gorgeous! I'm guessing Marans, Welsummers, olive eggers, ameraucanas? What else?
