Hi. I went to pick up my one year old Frizzle rooster yesterday,. and when I did, I noticed his wing feathers were really sharp and pointed and bare. Upon further inspection, his wings were 3/4 bare and just quills were there, some broken. This is new for him. Is something wrong with him? He is...
For gapeworm, would I give them the normal worming medicine or something different. The more I think about it, they do all free range and I have never wormed them, so it probably is that. Thanks for the advice, I SO appreciate it. I just love them so much.
She stopped walking backwards but is now opening her mouth and doing this gulping thing and then doing it again. Arrgh, I can't stand the not knowing how to help them.
I have not wormed them but I did check them for mites and didn't see any signs of them. It is making me nervous. Would I notice if they had worms? Would they be in their poop?
Today I was outside and noticed my white leghorn walking backwards. She will then walk forward and then backwards again. My concern is based on the fact that we have had 1 year old chickens die in the past 6 months. 1 every 2 months or so. They all had no symptoms before they died. I spend a lot...
I do and did check them for mites/lice and they are all fine. No predators (I mean, I live in a very rural area on 17 acres and there are coyote) but so far so good. I keep a good eye on them. NO signs of respiratory distress of any kind. We are constantly interacting with them. I have never...
I am in desperate need of advice. We now have a total of 8 hens and 1 rooster. They are free range, have a decent size coop, are very much loved and given layer crumble and corn. About 6 months ago, we had 1 of our leghorns become "quiet and lathargic" and then she died. She had been laying...
I did check for mites and lice. They all looked good. I gave the dirty booty girl a bath and she actually seems fine. I think maybe I was being a nervous nellie because Victoria died for no apparent reason. Thanks for the helpO:)
Hi. I had what seemed to be a very healthy White Leghorn suddenly die. The three days before she died, she would lay eggs and they were the kind that the shell is not hard. They free range, layer mash, corn and oyster shells plus clean water. ANyways, this morning I noticed her in the coop and...
