    Hens 1 yr. old just started to lay.

    I have 3 barred rocks that are about 3 weeks shy of 1 yr. old and they are just now starting to lay. I have 3 different shape (fart) eggs, what can cause them to start so late. all my other hens have been laying?

    The hay is Coastal Bermuda that is used in the south for horse hay. I just paid 20.00 for a bale of alfalfa for the girls....

    Fasteners for the new treated lumber

    I am in construction, and Yes you do have to use the correct nails. The treated lumber will destroy untreated nails and fasteners.

    Medicated Chick Starter?

    I use Purina brand feed and they recommend feeding starter until they are of age to start laying. there web site has a lot of info on feeds. hope this helps..

    Electric fences as a deterrent. psuedo poll.

    I have a hot wire running along the outside about 8 inches above ground, It has work very well. So far I have 1 opossum and 1 squirrel and 1 big bird..
