OMG....I don't believe it...I'm gonna pee my pants

I've had a few of them that just like to "pretend" to be broody. They puff up and everything, but then lay their egg and off they go.

This girl is not budging off the nest. I'm going to make a separate area for her today and move her (nest and all). But now I have to figure out how to get more shavings under her without disturbing her. The nest boxes were a little low on shavings, and I just haven't got to it yet.

Don't move her yet!!! I would let her get settled first. Give her something to sit on.

I'd leave her for a little while, then just dump some shavings around her, and put a little underneath her. She'll shape it as she sees fit.

I have a buff that went broody about a week ago. poor girl, we are rooster free..

How long do I let her settle in for? She's currently sitting on 2 wooden eggs, so she's got something under her.

I will add shavings around the side and a little under her. She puffs up and chitters, but she hasn't pecked me yet. (she does turn her head to my hand like she's going to though)

All right????Do you need some eggs???? just get those shavings within her scooping distance, she'll move them! Congrats.....!

Nancy, I'm good on eggs at the moment, thanks though.

She's getting more and more determined by the minute. She's now stealing the other hens eggs and she pecked me (although it didn't hurt) twice while I was trying to get the eggs out from under her. (except the wooden ones)

So when can I put her in more private quarters? She's a newer girl on the block so her seniority isn't the greatest. I'd like to have her where the others won't bother her.
