Do you think it could be from plant/food poisoning? I've started (?last week?) eating bean sandwiches on 12 grain bread. I usually have some leftover for the chickens. I looked at the ingredients of the bread and it had barley and rye flakes and I read in a book that rye seeds and barley were...
It's a pretty dark green. She hasn't layed today or yesterday ( not sure about the days before that); like I said, she went in the nest yesterday, but I don't think she layed anything.
Thanks
Ok, she's eating, but she won't eat her yogurt! We don't have any probiotics and no store close to us carries it. We have goat probiotic though, do you think it's the same thing?? We have her separated from the other chickens. No, they don't free-range but I'll occasionally let them out to...
She's feeling better now. She's preening herself, ran away from me a little, and scratched around a little. She still has that green stuff in her poop, though, but less diarrhea. Why is there green stuff in her poop??
Thanks
One of my 2 1/2 year old hens has been kind of lethargic today. She would just stand there with her tail down so I thought she was egg bound. I brought her in, gave her a warm bath and massaged her abdomen, then put some oil up and around her vent. She didn't get any better so I put a glove...
Hi Robin, Thanks for your help. Well, she not eating any more. We got some of that hand feeding bird feed, and we're feeding her with a eyedropper and syringe. It's VERY hard to feed her, is there any trick to that?? Do you no how often should we feed her? We gave her the wormer, Safegaurd...
How long does it take for chickens to recover from worms?? After we wormed Melissa I saw some worms in her stool, but she hasn't gotten any better. All she does is stand there with her feathers kind of ruffled, still drinking ALOT of water, and having diarrhea. We've wormed her a few times...
We've never wormed our chickens before. Her stool looks dark brown with a little white and is diarhea. If she has worms, what kind of wormer do you think would be the best for her?
Thanks for your help
My chicken, Melissa, is acting very strange. She isn't as active as the other chickens, she drinks alot of water for a while, I just noticed her comb getting pale and droopy today, and she isn't laying, either. She's eating, but she seems kind of light (she might always have been like that...
I still think she's egg bound. An egg with a shell or no shell broken inside of her. I think thats what egg bound is. Have you tried the oil and massaging thing?? A few of our girls (sex-links too) have acted like your girl before and when I did the whole olive oil and massaging thing they...
Sounds like egg bound to me. I would take her in, massage her abdomen in warm water, then put some oil ( mineral or olive) in and around her vent. Hope she feels better!
