Not cheap, but works for my 5 girls. I have it zip tied to their chain link run. There is no color choice but I received a green one and a purple one so I have one for grit and the other for shells.
I’m currently securing my run and I used hog rings to attach the hwc to the chain link. It seems like it will work great and it’s quick. I bought the hog rings and the pliers off of Amazon for under $15 I think.
I thought I’d give an update even though I’m not done wrapping the apron around their run. The heat is unbearable here.
I unroll the hwc so the curled part is arcing up, then I just push it down flat with my hands. I cut lengths of 6.5 feet. I measure 1.5 feet along one edge and placed a 2x4...
This looks like they used.

I’m going to pick some of these up this week along with pvc to try it.
I just unrolled my first length of hwc for a 10’ side. I’m going to cut it with metal shears at 12’ so I can overlap the corners. I’m going to bend the 90 degree using an 8’ board I have then take it to the back. After reading about the troubles with working with hwc, I may just work with...
I’m in the process of securing my dog kennel. I just got it set up last weekend, now for the tensions part.
My plan is to use 4’ hc and bend it in a right angle so that it will go 2’ up the side and a 2’ apron. I will secure it with hog rings. I also plan on running a strip of hc up the...
I know the OP has found their chicken run but thought I’d add what I just did to maybe help others. I have 5 girls in an urban setting, so no free ranging for them. I just finished putting together a 10x20x6 dog kennel. I also bought the canopy to go over half the run because I wanted to try...
Hey y’all!!
I
My 5 babies are a week old today! They’ve only been fed medicated chick starter with ACV and probiotics in their water. It’s 75 degrees here so I was wondering if I could take them outside for recess. Maybe 10-15 minutes. If I do, do they need chick grit in case they eat a few...
I have nothing to add, but I’m in Durham too! I don’t have chickens yet, but trying to get ready for Spring babies. I’m modifying a cheap prefab coop and plan on glueing and screwing trim around the inside of the windows over the hardware cloth staples.
I used to think raccoons were so cute.
