I have a rough cement floor in mine and I do not use shavings. I sweep it out everyday and it takes about 10 minutes. I have 23 chickens and 6 turkeys. I do use DE on the floor sometimes. I have no smell and really no flies in the coop too.

Welcome! Where did you originally come from? I moved down here from NH about 3 years ago. I am in Monroe VA. About 1 1/2 hrs north of you!

Worth it once it is done! Been doing some work in the garden today along with mowing and it is hot!

Try it alone! I have to wait for the kids to come visit and then I put them to work. LOL

Oh ya have a bear here too. I am hoping in the future I can get some sheep (the ones you don’t have to shear) and goats. But need more than wooden fencing. I am alone so it takes me a bit longer than if I had someone to help, but I will get there.

I did too but nothing like up north. I live in the mountains area up past Elon by about 5 miles. I have 11.5 acres and the best neighbors you could ask for

I came from NH. Not a city but the difference in taxes is great and I DON”T have to shovel snow!

Oh I have lost some chicks but for the most, have been pretty lucky. I do put them up at night so it is just the day they have to worry about. But I still think they are happier birds
