I know this is bit old but…..my ducks abscess is pretty large like baseball size. I will drain it….i work for surgeons so I do have a clue and I got antibiotics for her but I need to keep her clean right? The flies are crazy this time of year
My females butt on one side is red and featherless and looks swollen. She seems perfectly fine otherwise. Is this just molting? She’s lost feathers before but not like this.
I know this is older but the problem remains the same. I have 3 ducks. They have a 16x32 outside area with a pool and a 16x32 covered area with a closed in “house” area and an area just for water bowls. I have an area set up with just pea gravel where the pool/water bowls are and I hose them...
No, the other chickens were healthy. I figured if i had kept the other chickens i would have just put them together without much of a clean up but i thought i would ask just in case. thanks!
I have 15 new chicks about ready to go out into the coop. I had 9 hens in there. They killed one, I accidentally killed one, a fox got 3, one died randomly and since the last 3 were barely laying and it's tricky introducing new chicks, I gave the existing hens to a friend with a farm where they...
the fox did not get into the run....they were free ranging. She has been back several times but cannot or is not trying hard enough to get them in their run. At night, they get locked up in houses that he/she could not get into at all. Thanks for your help
Oh i'm sorry to hear that. I have stopped letting my chickens and ducks free range and have put that heavy metal wire up everywhere. They are safe but they so want to be outside. Safety first though. Did see the fox a couple more times but no visible attempts at getting in the run.
uh yeah that's not helpful. I live on the outskirts of town.....i have an acre but neighbors on all sides, several of which are cops. A shotgun is not going to happen. There will just be no more free ranging for these gals. They have a safe run they can forage around in
So I’m seeing a lot of fox attacks on here and I too have been a victim of such. Yesterday morning I saw a fox in the neighbors back yard but after it had already gotten 3 of my 7 chickens and one of my 4 ducks (one of 2 I just got Monday). It was daylight….around 7:30 am. The chickens and...
Wow I'm sorry but I don't agree with killing a bald eagle. I know they are not endangered anymore but still. You should have netting over your run if that is a big issue where you live. I know I am basically to blame for my ducks death. It is my job to keep her safe and I got lax because in...
Something killed one of my two ducks last night. Now the poor lone Blue Swedish is just quacking non-stop as if looking for her sister. I am going to get her another duck friend but can't for about 5 days. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to ease her pain? I have chickens but this...
It’s split in 2 so that she could actually be contained in the indoor run, door closed to the coop. She would have her own roost, food and water. The other chickens would have access to the coop, the other indoor area and the outside area. I don’t have a dog crate handy
