Hello all,
So I hatched three quail , two male one hen. So I bought two 8week old hens, putt my third in , so far, minor pecking but hutch is but enough they spread out when need be . About a week, and no injuries .
Now when I added one of the males., within 5 seconds he was trying to mate...
Hi all,
So I have 3 quail that made it after hatching, just about 4 weeks old now . Wasn’t sure what kind of Japanese quail they were , but after some reading and googling , looks like two are Italian and maybe the third is as well, not sure . But , wondering about the sex of them. Says if the...
Hi all , I have 3 quail chicks almost 2 weeks old . I noticed one of them had slightly water poo yesterday, and while cleaning the brooder one pood and it’s just bacily brown and watery.. first time with chicks . Anything to be concerned about ? Usually it’s kind of two toned , white ect .
Thanks !
I have 3 quail chicks, my first, hatch ever. a little over one week old . My brooder , is pretty enclosed, retains heat great, blowing hot air gently . not a heat lamp but a heater built in. Not sure if they’ve always been like this or just noticed today.. but there sleeping a little more...
Hi all, m
So I just hatched 3 quail, and am trying to plan out a hutch for them when they are bigger . assuming they all can stay together, / get along ect, I’ve read each quail needs a minimum of 1sq ft , more would be better .
So I’ve found some rabbit hutches, gives me plenty of space. But...
Ditto, we had lost one right after this one hatched .. minutes. He was 3 days old . We barely held it together to bury him.. we were both surprised on how attached we got . But yes fingers crosssed .. :/ if by morning he’s still on his back .. well. But here’s hoping !
He’s active , chirps, kicks his feet, have in wrapped in a sock now with his feet positioned Bert i can.. maybe that will help? If not .. he probably won’t make it .. not looking forward to that.. :/ i hope you’re does well :)…. Not the best pic ..
I was trying not to open the incubator when I had eggs that pipped . So as not to shrink wrap them. I could move him.. but if he can’t stay under the heat.. I can maybe fit a small cup. But I don’t have any non glass ones that small , they get too hot .. the humidity is down to 60..
I just a few hours ago had a similar thing with a quail.. was In shell after he started to zip about 40 hours.. can’t stand yet.. he’s kicking and chirping away though . leaving him alone in the incubator for as long as possible .. crossing fingers ..
He just hatched .. so I need to leave in the incubator for awhile .. hopefully he stops kicking and relaxes and sleep soon.. and then all will be well.. I have a separate spot I can set up as a brooder .. but if he can’t get around.. not sure the point .. he can stay in the brooder for about...
He’s fluffing out now and really trying to stand.. banging all around the incubator .. and now chirping .. I hope I don’t have to cull.. never done it .. I know it’s life .. was hard enough to bury the one we hit attached to..
