Can I put my 3 week old meat chickens outside?

It's very warm here in Eastern Washington. The lows is week are 53/54. Without additional heat, is this too cold for them? There are 38 of them and they will be in a chicken tractor. Just wondering if it would be ok to put them out now as we have pig coming in a few days... Thanks!

    They are all dead...

We did make a report with S.C.R.A.P.S. When the dogs attacked, we were out on a date and our kids were in bed. The dogs dug and pushed their way through the fence and then went through the door. It has been so hard to think about. I keep looking out there, but there are no sounds and our...

    They are all dead...

I sent my daughter out yesterday morning only to hear her scream. All 17 chickens are dead. None eaten. Just dead. Our neighbors thunk its 2 dogs that are running loose. They have been spotted recently. Coyotes would have eaten them. We live in Eastern WA, and all of the "animal...

    WHERE DID THE EGG GO???

I went out this morning to see if there were any eggs. There was one and I left it. I came back about an hour later and there was a wet spot. One of the chickens ate the egg!?!? Why did this happen? I dusted them with DE yesterday (the 2nd and last time) for lice. Would that upset them...

    New Chicken Mom here...

Thanks, everyone! I think I do love these chickens. I spend a minimum of 2 hours a day either watching their behavior or giving them scraps. I might need an intervention! :P

    Green eggs?

I have a chicken that looks A LOT like the blackish/green one in that picture. She's an Americana....she lays the green eggs. She's a second hand hen, we've only had her a month, and she's only given us 3 green eggs. :) Sometimes, you just never know what you're gunna get! :)

SO GLAD I found this thread! I have a RIR that lays eggs exactly how you all described them here! I thought these eggs were from an Araucana that was just getting older. But I watched the RIR lay this egg. I was so surprised. I have a tray of oyster shells out there to eat when they want...

    Bedding

I found lice on my chickens. Tomorrow I will be bathing them... I wondered what the best bedding is for mature chickens. We have pine shavings in there now. Does this promote parasites? What about cedar shavings? Straw? I need to know what to use to keep the pests down. Also, the...
