    what do you consider a flock (in terms of numbers and in terms of the male/female ratio)? do you keep the 2 breeds separate? is it easier to raise the flock as a whole?

    Oh my! She's lying on the towel as if she's trying to imitate a person lying down, getting ready to go to sleep. Are you sure she does not think she is a small human (your child)? I've not seen any chickens that lie like this, on a towel. I wish you both luck!

    You never know what moves one's heart. I've seen a piglet bond with a golden labrador puppy so much so that they could not be separated. There are videos of a blind horse and a goat who were best buddies that if separated, they got so depressed that they would stop eating etc... till they were...

    Generally 'flock' birds do better, with company. Hatched some birds with a strong bonding nature a couple turkeys or geese, that she can bond with and will out grow her and be protective of her since she'd be part of their flock. With day old chicks, quarrintine them with her in your room...
