Thanks for guess (and blog link)! I think I may need to wait a month or two more to be sure, especially since I'm not completely sure this is a RIR. These are my first chickens, so I guess it's just a learning process. I think I'm going to end up with 9 different kinds, since I couldn't make...
I'm hoping the the black (possible gold lace wyandotte) is a pullet so I hope Kes is right. Here is a close up picture of the RIR's tail and legs if that helps in sexing.
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out for sure which of my birds are pullets or cockerels. I posted pictures when they were 6 weeks old, but it was recommended that I check back. These are their 8 week pictures. The first four pictures are the ~8 week old red (RIR?). I think this one is a cockerel...

I think the two sides are closer to 10 feet apart, but I will check with Lowes and Home Depot to see if they have something that would work. Thanks for the idea!
I started putting the hardware cloth over the run (about halfway done) and I still need to attach the pieces securely together, but it looks like it's sagging in the middle. No matter how hard I try to tighten it on the top it still hangs down a little. I'm thinking that maybe I should get a...
Thanks for the information. It looks like I might have made things more difficult by getting a dog run instead of building it from wood and hardware cloth. I’m not sure what would be the best way to attach hardware cloth. Do you think galvanized wire would be good?
