Very good question! I do tend to think that this specific situation might be attributed to a specific browser, extension, internet connection, or similar. If it was a site-wide problem to this extent, I think we'd be getting a flood of posts and messages.

I've had a few that weren't as bad, and fortunately the silicone sock was protection enough that once I heated-up the hotend, the big mass of plastic pulled off.
