I forgot to mention - the way my ramp works is it lifts up under the coop to close the door so when all the chickens are inside the floor is one whole piece so no loss of floor space.
I have a 'floor door' I find it easier because the ramp is then under the coop so not in my way in the run. It's in the corner of the coop so only two sides are open to having bedding pushed out, I've put a fairly high lip around those two sides (approx 5 or 6 inches) and have no problem with...
She keeps trying to 'guard' the ramp into the coop which the banties aren't impressed about cos it's raining but I keep moving her and now I only have to lift the curtain to look out the window and she moves!
Thanks - she's been out for three days so I put her back in this morning - there's been a bit of pecking but only what I'd usually expect and nowhere near as bad as it was!

The thing is that she was never top hen, in my group of four she was settled at number three so I'm thinking that separating her isn't going to help
I would like to paint the inside of my coop but the chickens are already resident - is the best thing to just paint it and leave it closed up so they can't go in til the paint is dry?
