    yes, it is safe but keep them in an insulated area with a light on at night as new chicks can be afraid of the dark.

    a bit like the image above but the nesting box can be a bit of wood just dividing it and the roof isn't attached.

    make a normal large shaped box like a brooder, add an isolated area so a little nesting box on the end and add ventilation by cutting windows and covering them with net or mesh. and just have a piece of wood as the roof wich you can lift, move, and put away.
