    Aggressive Chicken

We had two Leghorns (about a year old now), and lost one of them. About a month ago, we got a new Ameraucana (3 months old), so we now have 2 chickens total. The Leghorn (named Porkchop) and the baby have been getting along fine since. In fact, Porkchop takes care of the little one, allowing...

    2 Month Old Chicken Vomitting

So I came home to find that my 2 chickens ran out of water sometime between yesterday and today. When I gave them their water they drank nonstop, and are now regurgitating the water (sometimes it looks a little slimy). I understand that it could be because they're drinking way too fast and it...

    Baby chicks eating random things...

Thank goodness! I started giving them yogurt to help beef up their digestive system because I just wasn't sure. They still pick at their poop though... Why don't they realize what it is if they've stuck their beaks in it time and time again (It's super cute when they wipe it off though)...

    Baby chicks eating random things...

It looks like pocket lint. There's dryer vent around there, so I'm assuming the lint is from there. How old are your chicks? Since mine are only 2 weeks, I still keep them on the heat lamp. I'll keep going till they're okay with more "regular" temperatures.

    Baby chicks eating random things...

I just started letting my 2 week old chicks go outside for small periods of time. They love going to the wall where it joins with the floor (the dirty part). I've seen them pick at spider webs, dust, twigs, and lint. By the time I tried to take the lint away from them, they ate it. Will they get...

    Have you used chicken nipples?

Do you guys poke a hole at the top so that air gets in as they drink? Water doesn't always come out when I tap the nipple, and I was wondering if its because I don't have an extra hole.

    Should I insulate?

My chicks are about a week old, and I'm beginning to gather ideas for building a coop. My question is whether or not I should insulate the coop. I have 2 white leghorns, and don't plan to get anymore. I live in San Diego, where the winters are usually mid 40's - 50's F. The coldest I've seen...

Porkchop & Nugget: 2 VERY cool SoCal girls

Hi. I'm new, hence the name NoobChick858. Living in Southern California...San Diego to be exact. I've never owned chickens up until last Thursday, when I picked up two 3-day old white Leghorn pullets. I named them Porkchop and Nugget. It's been 4 days, and they're still alive. Let's...
