Major Coop Overhaul By North Casceggs The property we are living on has an old but serviceable coop we are going to attempt to refurbish. It's July 26, 2009 and our chicks are 1 week old. We will need this coop ready to go in a few weeks. There's a lot to do! On left we see the front of...

    Otter, mink or weasel attack!!!

Wow how awfull. I lived in Wenatchee for 20+ years and while I've seen river otters preying on fish (esp. in the fish ladder at Rocky Reach Dam) I've never hear of them attaking chickens! Hope you do some heavy pred proofing so you don't loose anymore to whatever it is!

Rehabing an old coop: need encouragement, advice!

Quote: Howdy to you too neighbor! We've been in the Methow since 2004. We most recently moved from Mazama, where winter seemed to last about 8 months. Before that we came from the Wenatchee Valley so were well acquainted with all the pests we have on the east side--except for the wolves that...

    More new chicks from MPC

Quote: Thanks for the tip. I'm moving them to their new spacious brooder today, and I think that'd be helpful. They are already scratching the feed out and wasting quite a bit so I will have to make some modifications for sure. Thanks everyone!

    More new chicks from MPC

Just got my chicks today from MPC. Not only am I excited, my 2.5 y/o is too. He's so crazy about them he's set up a blanket and a towel to lay down next to them. He's only held one so far, and seems pretty happy with letting them be . And they seem pretty ok with having him lay next to them...
