I don't have the lamp on them anymore where I live and. Them being in the garage it gets around 80 in the garage the other chicks seems to be doing fine so far
I had 6 chicks in a brooder and they all seemed to be fine this morning when I changed their water. I come home and notice that one of my speckled sussex that had zero symptom of stress and seemed perfectly healthy this morning just laying there flat and dead. The other chickens seem to be ok. I...
I contacted this gentleman because the lady at my local feed store (the feed trough) in Salinas CA broke down her interpretation of organic vs non gmo (conventional) chick starter feed. She said just because it's organic doesn't nessisarily mean it's non gmo, so she sells me on the non gmo...
It's coarse river sand they're not eating anything but feed at the moment and about 9 weeks old. It's pretty dry right now I wonder if I can do sand bottom later and hey/straw top layer. Man now I don't know what I would do with a ton of sand and chicken poop
I went with the rough sand in the run and after reading some articles I'm wondering if I made a mistake, I've noticed there are some pretty serious drawbacks when using sand, I was going for the grit benefits and ease to clean. We live in Monterey so were not getting much rain but overall...
Picked up this lil chick a week ago and I'm new to this but it's 2 weeks old now and I know it can be breed specific that they might have a short tail do you guys think I might have a lil roo? I still think it's a hen what do you guys think?
We were cruising the good ol costco and I saw the chicken coop they sell, I thought that it would be awesome to have some
Fresh eggs every morning and after even convincing a then apprehensive wife she reluctantly let me buy the coop, I then took her to our local feed store to get some questions...
We just have four chickens right now but with my then reluctant wife now searching for more chicks I'm sure I'll need a bigger coop eventually might as well start building it out
One thing though, the "ideal" spot for the coop is on top of concrete part of our yard. The dirt and grass in our backyard has very limited real estate with planter boxes does anyone have any experience with this? What could I do if that was my only option to build for the ground?
