    Wireless heating

I wonder has anyone ever attempted to heat a coup, infact any outbuilding wirelessly? I am considering using a magnetron & PSU from an old microwave oven to transmit via a focused waveguide on to a receiver/ radiator. Efficiency will be key, but this could save on running armoured power...

    Winter preperations...

Here in Scotland I strip and rebuild the coup in the green house over the winter months. An excellent opportunity to sterilize fully. Having removed a bottom corner pane of glass I replaced with a slide up door which I only open when frost & snow is lifted. They benefit from no chance of a...

Anyone know how to judge amoxicillin dose for a five pound Brahma hen?

Actually the reference given compares blood plasma concentration levels. So yes, I can :)

Fair enough Kathy. Only I personally disagree. No offence intended. And quoted an up to date government reference :)

Wing clip or not to clip...If so how?

Familiar with that approach. My opinion is that single wing clip creates an imbalance and can harm the bird as crash lands. They are called flight feathers for a reason. Yes, I have muscovies, chooks and geese and so makes sense with regard to the weight of the bird. Only not all keepers...

Anyone know how to judge amoxicillin dose for a five pound Brahma hen?

Yes it may be given more but is it justified? Human maximum absorption is 49%. Average 39%. Chook average estimate is in the order of 63% +/- 4.58 % This suggests the chicken more readily absorbs amoxicillin in blood plasma than the human. So we are looking at over 50x human dosage...

Wing clip or not to clip...If so how?

Personally I wing clip all my birds. Prefer to beauty clip leaving three furthest out flight feathers and clipped both sides. Yourselves how and why?

    Sea weeds, kelp, potassium Iodide?

Well you have pretty much backed up my hypothesis and taken much time to write with regard. When it comes to the methodology though I am not looking to write a paper so I will run tests but not for research purposes. Sometimes we have to escape the workplace... lol Only when I think about it...

Anyone know how to judge amoxicillin dose for a five pound Brahma hen?

That to me is scary Kathy. That is equivalent to giving a human of 75 kilograms proportionate to a chook of 3 kilograms 62.5 grams per day. Obviously absorption should be allowed for and that is a very big chook and a low mass human being. (I am a physicist) This for me is the cause of...
