I have eaten our call duck eggs in the spring when they were laying a lot of eggs. They taste the same to me and my daughter who is pickier about flavors, and the only difference I found was when I made deviled eggs, the whites came off in layers. So I wouldnt use them for that.
I am in Fulton County, near Wauseon Ohio, in the Northwest corner, 3 miles from Michigan I have about 50 chickens, call ducks and east indies ( which are for sale). I get 2.00 a dozen for my eggs which are cage free, range fed.
I have one of these and I bought it years ago, still works, safe and I have plastic waterers. You Can buy them much less expensive than the one you found, just google it..

Thanks for all the info/opinions.... I decided to let them live because their were so many feathers in the box. By the way they are Buckeyes. I have a White Rock I did the same thing too and she layed right away... I am still trying to figure out the best time to cull. I still haven't figured...

Ok I have some older hens in individual pens to see if they are still laying. Do they have to have a nesting box in there to lay and how many days would you give them before you culled them?

I didnt think I saw what kind of ducks they are, but I had two of my call ducks hide in between bales of hay and go broody. You could hardly see them...
I have three that I hatched for our bible school in June, and I have tried to put them out with the others in the coop and they always coming running back up to the house. They are a black Ameraucana, a Welsummer/Ameraucana cross and a grey Easter Egger

I messed up and forgot to order my sons 4-H chicks. I am looking for 10 or so pullets born in Jan or Feb. Wyadottte, Buckeye, Ameraucauna, Australorps etc. will consider anything except white leghorns!
