    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a broody barred rock and I have no clue how many eggs are under her. How do I check? I think I read somewhere I wait for her to go to sleep? I would also like to put a few more eggs under her. She already bit me once, because I didn't recognize what was going on.

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I made an awesome spreadsheet to track my chickens this year. You should look at it and tell me what you think. The Hatch sheet is still under construction when it comes to sheet totals and linking to the totals sheet. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByQesO4DlmekVDVVcmUtT1NHOXM/edit?usp=sharing

    November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Drumroll!!!! I did a 100% hatch after pulling the infertile eggs!! My first ever hatch mid November was a failure (my thermometer went out when I raised the humidity during lockdown, so I cooked the babies). I hatched one egg last week. Today, my 27 eggs hatched!

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

My new babies that started hatching last night. I still have 2 in the incubator + 3 eggs that are pipped and trying to hatch.

    Red sex link?

The EE isn't laying yet. My white rocks are older. This was the last egg I collected before they stopped laying for winter.

    Red sex link?

The only rooster I have is a RIR, and a dog killed more than half of my layers two months ago, leaving me with my White Rocks. Besides those, I have an EE and a White Leghorn at POL, but no eggs yet (and they wouldn't lay a brown egg.) I'm assuming my white rock doesn't carry the silver factor.

    Red sex link?

I hatched this chick yesterday. It's dad is a RIR and mom is a white rock. It's the only chick that hatched so I have no siblings to compare it to. Is this a red sex link pullet? Or does my white rock not carry the right genome? Or is it impossible to tell?

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Anyone in the Dawson, Pickens, Forsyth, Cherokee county area want 7 chickens, all 9 weeks old? 5 Black Australorp Pullets, 1 Black Australorp Cockerel, and 1 Easter Egger Pullet. I picked them up a few weeks ago, and I haven't had time to put up my coop extension. They've been living in a box in...

    5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

I got them from a local feed and seed. They sell chicks until September, but they didn't sell out this year. I got the lucky remaining chicks ;) A few may accidentally slip and fall in my incubator. They may even turn it on on their way down!

So I'm out. I got a great deal on 13 Black Australorps (that are 9 weeks old) today so my husband so no hatches until the weather clears up and we get the second half of our coop up.

    November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

There is still hope. Today is day 24 and my eggs are still rolling around!

    November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

I'm sitting on pins and needles. At 8 I roll into day 22 of my hatch and there is nothing. No movement. No pipping. I'm afraid my thermometer broke after day 18 and I cooked the babies. On day 18 they looked great. Good development, and plenty of movement from 6 of the 7 that made it to lockdown.
