Thanks. They're not sick. The one Barred Rock has been laying without the aid of the pellets and the other two should follow suit soon. They just have too many bugs to eat to mess with the pellets now.
My 3 hens are about 10 weeks old. They have about a 2000 sq. ft. section of my yard to roam during the day and are closed up in the roost at night. Sometimes I don't let them out early in the morning to see if they will eat the fancy scratch and laying pellets. The turn their beaks up at them...
That's just what I need for my girls. Goin' fishin' at the Gulf for a week and need to coop up the semi-free range (fenced)
birds. They have no interest in the pellets since we have a bumper crop of crickets and sundry bugs this fall. is there
any reason not to build this feeder out of Eastern...
The 360 nipples from Farm Tek have a 1/8" NPT thread. A cheap tap and die set usually has a 1/8" pipe tap. I did machine work for a
long time, so the "R" tap drill and tap were in my old box. Also, a rubber O-ring provides a more dependable seal, as you are depending

models, miniatures, or toy chickens, poultry, or other livestock.
I'm making some water dispensers and saw a link to some hardware supply store that sells the nipples cheap.
Avian Aquamiser's nipples are about $6 each, but I remember seeing a place that sells them for under $3. Anyone
remember who that is?
It's my understanding that pressure treated wood isn't the best wood to use around chickens or food.
The newer stuff may be a little less toxic than the old Penta-wood. Someone enlighten us.
What I've been using is Eastern Red Cedar harvested and milled locally. It repels most bugs that...
Go to my thread titled automatic watering device. The toilet fill valve is under $6, the supply line,
3/8 to 3/4 adapter, and the 3/4 to female hose thread are under $10, and the Avian Aqua Miser
nipples are about $7 each. This is not a new idea, just my version. We tested it on 2 year old
hens...
Finally got internet service restored after the lightning knocked it out last Tuesday.
I found the toilet fill valves without the bulb type float at Home Depot for under $6. with the
float pictured, I had to replace the long threaded rod that came with a piece of 1/4" all thread
so it would...
