    Help, Wheezing Chicken.

You were right! She cleared up in a few hours. I kept her in overnight because it was already dark outside and she was still clear this morning. She went back out to her flock mates. Thank you!!

    Help, Wheezing Chicken.

Went out to check on my girls this evening and one of my little silkies is wheezing. She was not doing this six hours earlier when I went to collect eggs and throw out a couple handfuls of scratch. She is active and alert, eating normaly, poop is normal, no nasal or eye discharge, no head...

    Adding Silkies to Flock

They are all so cute! I just love me some fluffy silkies! Anyway, All Flock can be fed to chicks over 7 weeks so your safe there. However, from experience it always seems my girls would chose starter over all flock when I was introducing my silkies last year so I just put everyone on starter...

    Adding Silkies to Flock

Well, at this point it sounds like you can give it a go on a day you can monitor them. There will be a little chasing/pecking as they are establishing order but it should work out as long as it is not too violent.

    Adding Silkies to Flock

I have a small flock. 3 standards and 2 silkies. I did get them integrated last year after pulling the bully australorp out for two weeks and keeping her isolated from the flock then reintroduced her. She still gets mean sometimes but the silkies are fine as long as they have a place to run...

Molting hen not eating feed and loosing weight

I have a 2 1/2 year old polish hen who is molting. She is thru the worst of it but has lost a lot of weight and doesn't seem to be eating her feed. I have them on a mix of organic starter and nutrena feather fixer. However, she will eat the high protein treats...eggs, tuna or meal worms...

    Silkie thread!

Thank you for the photo! Mine are still under a pound I think at 4 months. When did yours reach full size? They are on an 18% protein feed but thinking of putting the whole flock on starter 19% feed. Which I think will be fine for everyone since the summer heat is coming and they eat less anyway.

    Silkie thread!

I am new to silkies. I have 2 just over 4 months old. They are still so tiny! Does anyone have any photos of one standing next to a standard chicken so I can get an idea of how big they get? How old are they when they reach full size? I am terrified they aren't getting enough food or...

    Limping Brahma

He did say dry because he said 4-5 pieces, lol. I guess I can try the canned. She has always been a picky eater. Now what do I with the dry food, lol. I don't have cats.

    Silkies go to roost early

Thank you. I never thought that some chickens would go to bed early. Though hey were ruled by the sun, lol. I am glad to hear that you chickens do this too. Silkies are weird little birds, lol. Last night they actually stayed up nearly as late as the adult hens. I guess I chalk it up to my...

    Limping Brahma

Is seems the are lots of limping chickens right now! I finally isolated my limping hen last week. Her foot and leg are fine. I think it is more of a joint issue in her hip. I talked to a vet and he said to keep her penned and give her low dose aspirin for 3 weeks. She definitely seems better...

Need advice for pullet with leg injury.

I am dealing with a limping chicken too. Though mine can still use her foot an hobble around. I suspect mine injured or hip. After a vet appointment he thinks joint issues too because she can still move her leg and grab things with her foot. If she cant move her foot around and is not using leg...

    Silkies go to roost early

So the good news is my 2 almost 16 weeks old silkies are roosting :). The weird thing is they go to roost one to one and a half hours earlier then when the big girls go to roost around sunset. Is this weird? Should I be kicking off the roost or just let them be? Thanks in advance
