These birds are supposed to be Blue and Brown/Red but I know that Blues are only true usually about 50% of the time. I am looking for some help in determining roos from hens. I would also be interested in knowing what is considered standard for the two colours.

Has anyone lined their nesting boxes with seed germination heating pads? They are waterproof and raise the ambient temperature 10-20F. The eggs are always frozen and I thought this might help and be safe for the chickens.

Interesting. My hens have always had pellets available at any time they choose to eat. I started fermenting last week and they seem to really like it but at the same time I removed the offer of dry pellets so they are probably more hungry than usual.
