Ok perfect! Thanks for the help. These ladies need to quit this mess and get back to normal. I only have 6 that lay and these 3 have quit. My others aren’t old enough yet. I keep telling them their “rent” is due!! LOL
I don’t think I could put the crate in the roost. This crate is large my grown lab fits in it. Will that be a problem with such a large crate as far as breaking them?
Yeah I’m hoping my EEs don’t go broody! I haven’t thought about raising meat birds but I’m not gonna lie…I eat chicken but not one that I’ve met. LOL I don’t know if I have the heart. Don’t get me wrong I wish I could get past it and I would if I had too. My hubs says I’m so wimpy. We raised a...
Yeah me too! At least that’s what I read and if they do it don’t last long but of course I get one that’s the exception. She’s been sitting for 2 weeks or so.
I’m glad to know that’s working. I wasn’t sure if I needed to do them all at once or one at a time. I will do them one at a time. I was afraid if I did one and when she got out she would go broody again seeing the other one still broody.
I have 3 pullets that have gone broody at the same time. White leghorn, speckled Sussex and a mystery breed. (I have no clue what she is) I thought the leghorn would snap out of it but it’s been 2 weeks and she’s determined. and the black mystery pullet went broody a few months ago (maybe...
they are 2 weeks and they are in a predator proof coop, unfortunately I was away and one of my grandkids must have left the door ajar. I've seen this hawk lurking so I assume it was a hawk attack. There are no wounds or cuts just the leg injury and a missing chick. I will try to get pics to send.
My chicks were attacked last night, I am going to assume it was a hawk because one chick is gone and the other is laying on her side only able to move one leg. What should I do to help her?
This is her first time being broody. The chick was a day old and the new chicks will be a day old. She is still sitting on eggs and stayed in the nesting box that is until today. She came out with the chick and tonight nested in the corner so I may have missed my window of opportunity
